Javier Villegas UpdateJuly 9th, 2010

Javier Villegas

It’s been a more mellow week since last time i wrote, but still packed with fun.
This las days I’ve been riding a lot at Paradise Ranch and learning some new techniques and tricks, which i have no pictures of so wont tell until i have some proof, but is gonna be good i promise. I did some filming for Cliff Talley from ESPN.com while he was interviewing Metzger about his recovery and got to meet with the people of “Forgiven energy”, so that day was pretty awesome. The Next day we went to ride and shoot some pictures and film some footage for Bshipman films documentary, “FMX & the life”,at Reche Canyon to show my super man back flip on the big dirt step up, too bad that day, our friend Alex endo that jump landing on a dislocated wrist and broken tib and fib, now he’s back in Mexico with his family recovering.
The Next day we headed to Payson AZ, for the Moto Madness, a freestyle show with some Arena cross intermission, yeah exactly how you read it.
We had best whip contest, step up, team competition and the final train show. The First day I won in best whip, then won step up going around 27ft and our team took the victory with all our flip combos. The second day i took the victory again on best whip and steep up, but with only 25ft, and our team again defeated the other team, it was a fun weekend and I’m looking forward to repeat it.

Then I took a few days off and got back to practice and improve my old tricks and learn some new stuff, I got to ride with some friends at the paradise, it was good to ride with Greg Schaaf, X games rider Rich Kearns and Nick Dunne, we had an awesome practice session and i got to see my first rattle snake, hopefully my last. Mike Metzger gave me one of his new signature Goggles, and told me, “these are collectors items”, so i will take a lot of care of those.
And the last day I rode, I filmed some more for Cliff in Reche Canyon and I’ll be waiting on him to see the result of the footage on ESPN.com/action. Now that i think about it, it hasn’t been a mellow week at all, it’s been busy and fun.

And last but not least, check out the new video i made, a little bit of everything i’ve done since i came to California, hope you guys like it.

Javier UpdateJuly 1st, 2010

Javier Villegas
Hey Guys, do you remember that huge gap that i flipped last week and that i was so proud of, well yesterday i upgraded my skills and started doing bigger back flip combos out of it, check the attached pictures to see me doing a super man back flip and an Indian Air Back Flip Out of a 135 ft dirt lip, i don’t want to claim it yet, but rumor has it that i’m the first one to do any combo flips on it.
Now I’m getting ready and relaxing for my next show this friday in Payson AZ, and I’ll be back to california this saturday and keep on improving my riding, and hopefully get to land new tricks before my next big contest in Tijuana Mexico.
Greetings

Paul Smith Update

Another crazy week of the 2010 summer tour …. Put more miles in than a long haul trucker.

Did a demo in Tampa on Wed. then packed up and headed north on Thrs morning. 1250 miles later i was in Appleton Wisconsin for the Tractor Pull Nationals …. brrrrap !

Some insane diesel tractors and trucks … horsepower and black smoke was the theme of the weekend !

After that, i jumed back in the e350 and headed south … i have a vid session tomorrow for a fuel tv pilot and then im back in the van heading to michigan …fmx show and some pit sessions at scott murrays place.

Should be fun, but man i hate driving … anyone got one of them startrek tele-porters for sale ?

Javier Villegas UpdateJune 15th, 2010

It’s been almost a week since i left texas and it’s been a super busy week.
Last wednesday i got the chance to ride with Jim McNeil at Speed World in AZ, it was so much fun hitting the 3rd gear ramp and the wall ride and get to ride with one of the most amazing riders in this side of the country, hopefully I’ll get to ride some more over there and finally get to hit that dirt section that looks technical and fun.
On thursday We got to California and went straight to Reche Canyon where we rode for most of the afternoon just as a warm up, On friday I went out to Reche Canyon again and this time I did one of the most amazing and scary thing that i have done in my life, Back flip over a 115 ft dirt hit to a hill, i was really satisfied and happy, but what really got me insanely happy was when they told me that i was the third rider to ever do it, after Rich Kerns and Mike Metzger.
Saturday I decided to took it as a working on the bike days so on Sunday my bike would look bright and shiny for the filming of “on the pipe 6″ on Wyvern, it was an awesome day of riding with some friends and i hope we can do it again soon enough.
Here goes a link of that back flip on the hill

Paul Smith Rider Rider UpdateJune 8th, 2010

It’s been a busy week in Florida ….
I was pumped to ride at the 97x Backyard BBQ last weekend, just outside Tampa at Vinoy Park. The weather was perfect, OK well i little hot for me, but sunny and even though we were right next to the ocean, the wind was calm. Great bands played all day and we did 3 “kik butt” FMX demos… some how, during the second show, I got a thumb tack in my front tire and had to pull off every 5 jumps and pump some air into it … ha ha.  This was the second year I rode for the BBQ and the croud was even bigger and louder than last year!
Spent the week practicing at Sunshine MX track in St.Pete … great facility and thx to Steve we have a sweet landing to jump to. I have started working on another new trick, an oxecutioner from the bars. Usually you do them from the seat grab position but i have been doing them right off the ramp, letting go with the throttle hand and reaching for my boot.
I will be back in St Pete this weekend, jumping at the Moto Jam!

Paul Smith UpdateMay 29th, 2010

Bikelanta was a huge success, hundreds of custom bikes, Bikini Contest, DJ, great food and music, and oh yea FMX !

This was my first year jumping at this event and im already looking forward to next year. The event was organized by Mountain Motorsports in Conyers Ga. and was very well done. Entertainment for all, and bikes everywhere… from custom choppers to dirt bikes to 600 hp Hyabousa drag bikes … it was all here.

We did 2 shows on sat and 2 on sun. Jake Coombs and Adam Cousino rode excellent and we kept the croud entertained with big tricks and tight trains. The weather was perfect, sunny and 85 deg !

Ill be riding at the Backyard BBQ music festival in St. Pete Florida this weekend, hope for good weather and a repeat of last years kik ass event …

Paul Smith FMX updateApril 30th, 2010

An awesome weekend in Woodstock Georgia with some drastic extreme weather …

The FMG Monster Nationals started off friday on a perfect spring night. We had the crowd on their feet for the entire FMX demo. We also had an awesome dirt landing and i was pumped to have time to get all of my tricks off including some new ones i have been working on… one hand take of to one hand helicopter, and kod indy !

Then on saturday things got nasty … huge rain storm, and a postponed show till sunday.

Lucky we had the dozer handy, cause on sunday the weather was back to spring time in georgia … with a few hours of landing reconstruction we were able to put on a killer afternoon show and the fmx guys kicked butt again !

Props out to “X Factor” … one of the gnarliest monster trucks i have seen in a long time. He attempted a monster truck back flip and almost got all the way around … but a little to light on the gas, and he was on his roof. No injury, except to the truck, so all good !

Im jumping at the Monster jam in Ocala florida this weekend .. great to do a home town show.

hope everyone is having a great spring, and stay safe !
