Meet Melissa: No Fear’s Featured HOT CHICKSeptember 15th, 2009

Profession: Accountant
Relationship Status: Loving my boyfriend
Order of Importance:”bad boy” image but is really super sweet, have a great sense of humor and smile, like to do the same things I do: ride motocross, wakeboard, snowboard, and of course shops at No Fear.
What is the most memorable pick up line you’ve ever heard: I used to belong to a MMA gym because I wanted to learn to fight. A bunch of us would have these parties and everyone would come because it was pretty tight-knit, and one night this new guy asked if I knew any karate, because “I’m kickin’!”
What’s the craziest thing you’ve ever done: When I was first learning to ride tracks I got all crazy and pinned it for a big jump. The takeoff kind of startled me and I didn’t have my balance or knew what I was doing, so I ended up flipping over the bars, my bike was cartwheeling behind me, I hit the ground and then my bike hit me in the side of the head and ripped my goggles off. My brake lever broke off on me. I got rocked! But it was pretty cool my helmet actually saved my life.
Do you have any tattoos: Yes, I have two half-sleeves. I have “Love Again” on my side. I also have crosshairs on my back that my mom hates.
Have you ever cheated on a boyfriend: Never.
Have you ever lied: Haha, yes…but only because I don’t want to hurt someone’s feelings. I’m nice!
No Fear Inks Motocross Sponsorship With Pala Raceway GroupSeptember 10th, 2009
No Fear and Pala Raceway recently formed a marketing alliance designed to co-promote their respective brands and support amateur and professional motocross riders and off-road racing in Southern California.
According to Kirk Chandler of the Pala Raceway Group, the new alliance will benefit everyone involved. “Aligning with action sports brands such as No Fear that are globally recognized will support Pala Raceway and its vision of becoming a world-class racing facility,” Chandler said. “No Fear will serve as the raceway’s motocross protective gear brand, receiving local and national media exposure at racing events, plus a full line-up of No Fear’s moto gear will be available in the raceway’s onsite pro shop.”
In addition, the Pala Raceway staff will use No Fear products when they ride, providing an unofficial team of over 20 riders promoting the brand’s latest motocross gear and styles out on the track almost every day of the week.
“We’re very excited about our new relationship with the Pala Raceway Group,” said Britt Galland, No Fear’s Vice President of Marketing. “This is an ideal opportunity to showcase our brand and our exceptional quality gear at a racing venue that’s practically in our own backyard. The facility is going to be phenomenal when it’s all built out.”
Located at 12799, Highway 76 in Pala, CA, the 200+ acre Pala Raceway is fast becoming one of the premier motocross facilities in Southern California, with many of the world’s top professional and amateur riders honing their skills here on a regular basis. The complex currently features seven unique tracks, including the Main Track, Vet Track, Mini Track, a Quad / SideXSide Track, and a Trials area. Plans are also in the works to add a state-of-the-art Super Moto track, extensive camping and parking areas, as well as a separate Karting Track. No Fear’s Kea Espiritu Takes 5th Place, Volcom Pufferfish Pro AmAugust 10th, 2009

VQS Lahaina Harbor, Maui 1 – 2 August 2009
Surfersvillage Global Surf News- – The Volcom Pufferfish Pro Am went off at Lahaina Harbor August 1 -2, with a fun South Swell and some of Hawaii’s top young talent, including Kai Barger, Clay Marzo, Albee Layer, Matt Meola, and local boy Kea Espiritu.
In the early rounds of the men’s Pro Am, Clay Marzo put on a show, blowing up his local spot with huge frontside airs. The Pro-Am final was the most futuristic surfing I have ever seen in a contest. There were six perfect 10-point rides in the event and 3 of them were in the Pro-Am final!
Matt Meola won the Electric Volt Thrower move of the day when he busted out a rodeo followed up with few turns for the first ten on the heat. Clay Marzo pulled two giant airs on one wave also got a ten. The crowd was in awe. Albee Layer got a set wave and got drained, came out and pulled a huge alley oop, and it wasn’t over yet, he did a big carve and an air reverse for the 3rd 10-point ride of the final.
You would have thought one of these guys with a perfect 10 would have won, but not with Kai Barger in the water. His two 9’s beat a ten and a seven. In the end it was Kai Barger taking out Marzo. Barger mixed huge power turns with new school airs, and did it all with style! Matt Meola followed in second, Albee Layer in third, and Clay Marzo fourth–all with 10 point rides! Local boy Kea Espiritu held it down for the Lahaina crew with fifth place, and Yuri Soledad finished in six.
All in all it was a nuts event and everyone was stoked, smiling and ready for the premiere of Volcom’s new surf movie BS, which followed the event.

No Fear Co-Sponsors 2009 Toyota Muscle Milk SurfercrossAugust 3rd, 2009
2009 Toyota/Muscle Milk Surfercross
Annual event presented by Oakley draws pro athletes and industry elite
PERRIS, CALIF. – After a one-year hiatus, the tenth annual Surfercross is returning to Southern California. The two-day event is bigger and better than ever, and will take place on Tuesday, August 4 at Starwest MX Park (Perris, Calif.) and Wednesday, August 5 at San Onofre State Beach.
The Toyota/Muscle Milk Surfercross presented by Oakley is sponsored by FMF, Asterisk, No Fear, Wahoo’s Fish Taco, N-Style, Kawasaki, Yamaha, Starwest Motocross Park and Fender. Created by Jeremy Albrecht and Mike Parsons, Surfercross has become an event that many pros look forward to each year – it’s a laid-back, no-pressure event that combines the overlapping interests of many surf and moto athletes.
“Toyota and Muscle Milk really stepped up to help put on the event this year,” said Jeremy Albrecht, co-creator of Surfercross. “And Oakley has been with us for a few years now and has always put in 100% effort. It’s hard to believe that Mike [Parsons] and I started this thing ten years ago and it keeps getting better and better.”
The Pro class is invite-only, and this year’s roster includes professional AMA riders such as Josh Grant, Cody Cooper, Justin Brayton, Wil Hahn, Jake Moss, and Sean Borkenhagen, as well as former top riders Greg Albertyn, Eric Sorby and David Pingree. This year’s overall winners will receive one-of-a-kind engraved guitars, courtesy of Fender. The famed guitar company will be giving away a total 12 guitars at the event.
The event is set up as a team competition, with each pro motocrosser and each pro surfer riding on day one and surfing on day two. Teams are decided based on the luck of the draw—a random drawing at the start of day one determines who teams up. After each day, the points are tallied and the team with the best combined score for both disciplines takes the overall win. Past winners include Brandon Rambo/Jeff “Ox” Kargola, David Pingree/Adam Wickwire, Josh Hansen/Scott Farnsworth, James Stewart/Mike Parsons, Rick Johnson/Sunny Garcia, Dave Castillo/CJ Hobgood and Nathan Ramsey/Bryan Hewitson.
