No Fear Extends Its Agreement to Sponsor
The NSSA’s Championship Series to 2011

Carlsbad, CA – No Fear’s VP of Marketing, Britt Galland and NSSA Executive Director, Janice Aragon announced today that No Fear has extended its commitment to serve as the title sponsor for NSSA’s four championship series through June of 2011. The original three-year contract was set to expire after the NSSA Nationals in June of 2009.

The newly extended commitment encompasses the sponsorship of the NSSA Interscholastic State Championships, East Coast and West Coast Championships and the grand finale—the NSSA National Championships—widely recognized as our nation’s most prestigious amateur surfing showcase.

“No Fear has always recognized the NSSA as the cornerstone of amateur surfing in the USA, which is why we jumped at the chance to associate our brand with NSSA in 2007,” Galland said. “No Fear’s philosophy is to support young athletes and help them realize their fullest potential…and that’s exactly the role the NSSA plays in the surfing community.”

According to Aragon, No Fear’s involvement will continue to provide significant benefits to NSSA’s member-competitors and multifaceted surfing program. “Promoting competitive accomplishment and scholastic achievement to our members is at the core of the NSSA’s DNA, and we are proud that No Fear supports our mission. We’re thrilled that No Fear has extended its support and we feel very fortunate to have the opportunity to continue this long-term partnership.”

Since inking its original three-year deal with the NSSA in 2007, No Fear has continued to escalate its support. In October of 2008, No Fear announced its sponsorship of the 2008-2009 NSSA Junior Series—the organization’s entry-level competitive series for middle school and high school surfers. More recently, No Fear Energy became the official energy drink of the NSSA.

Since its humble beginnings 30 years ago, the NSSA has evolved into the launching pad from the amateur level to professional surfing. Virtually every American surfer competing on the ASP World Championship Tour has come up through the NSSA organization.

“No Fear Energy continues to increase its brand awareness in the action sports and motorsports communities,” Galland said. “Securing our position as the exclusive energy drink sponsor for the world’s largest amateur surfing organization will complement our visibility across all of our action sports platforms.

Since inking a three-year commitment in 2007 to serve as the title sponsor for the NSSA’s four Championship series (East Coast, West Coast, Interscholastic, and Nationals), No Fear has continued to fortify its relationship with NSSA. No Fear Steps Up Its Support of NSSA
By Sponsoring NSSA Jr. Series

CARLSBAD, CA — In a move to better focus its investment and support of amateur surfing, No Fear has stepped up its involvement in the NSSA and phased out its own love child, the Koastal Kaos amateur surf series.

According to No Fear’s Vice President of Marketing, Britt Galland, “we really loved putting on the Koastal Kaos series for the past two years, and everyone had a great time. But it had become clear that we were duplicating our efforts and creating some scheduling dilemmas for the surfers,” he said. “Dropping Koastal Kaos allows us to consolidate our resources in support of the NSSA, the premier amateur surfing organization in the country.”

During its 30-year tradition, NSSA has produced more top professional surfers than any other amateur surfing body. Former NSSA National Champions include Kelly Slater, Andy Irons, Bobby Martinez, Damien Hobgood, Taylor Knox, Cory Lopez, Bruce Irons, CJ Hobgood, Fred Patacchia and Chris Ward. Now, in addition to serving as title sponsor of the four NSSA Championship series, No Fear has signed on to replace Hurley as the main sponsor the 2008-2009 NSSA Jr. Series.

NSSA Jr. — A Great Place to Start Competing
“NSSA Jr. is the perfect venue for middle school and high school short board and longboard surfers to learn the ropes of amateur surfing,” Galland said. “As they develop their surfing skills they also learn how to get through heats and manage the time clock.” After experiencing some success at the NSSA Jr. level, surfers have a lot more confidence to move up into the highly competitive NSSA Explorer and Open classes.
